Argentina holds a unique position among Latin American countries. It has the second-largest landmass in South America, and the makeup of its population is quite different from the rest of the continent. The country's nearly 37,000,000 inhabitants are largely descendant from Spaniards, Italians, Germans and other Europeans. A very small percentage of Argentina's population consists of mestizo and indigenous peoples, but you can find them in the northern Jujuy province amongst fascinating archaeological sites, volcanoes, small Indian villages and nature reserves.
